Baby it’s cold outside!!!
Cam and I had my folks over a few nights ago for dinner. I made Ina Garten’s Meatballs (liberally adapted, I will post this one soon) and Marcella Hazan’s 3 -Ingredient Tomato Sauce. If you have not tried either of these, I recommend you do immediately. It is sooooooo tasty and simple. I won’t be able to go back to jarred tomato sauce.
Anywho, back to the star of this post….Slow Cooker Mulled Wine. It is so simple and a classic addition to a holiday dinner with family or friends. It is so simple and makes the house smell amazing. I used the crock pot (obvi), 2 bottles of cheap red wine (you will be slow cooking the wine so don’t use anything fancy!), star anise, cinnamon sticks, orange, and whole cloves. Let that simmer on low heat in the crock pot for 2-3 hours before your guests arrive. Ladle it out into cute mugs OR, do like we did, fill up to-go tumblers and put on your coats and head outside to walk around your hood and look at the lights. It was the perfect warm drink for our chilly walk.
I gotta say, Papa Records was a big, big fan!!! He gave it 2 thumbs up and he doesn’t give those out easily!
This warm and spiced mulled wine is everything you need to keep you warm on those super chilly nights!
